FAQ

Error 0x80004005 during Gabi 4 installation

If this error comes up during the installation of GaBi 4 (all versions) you do not have sufficient write permissions on your computer.

Please ensure that you have write access to the program file folder. Setting your user rights to local administrator right solve the problem.

Notice: Working with GaBi requires the same rights!

Can "large fonts" lead to incorrect displays within GaBi windows?

Yes, GaBi does not support the "large fonts" of Windows. Some windows can appear with incorrect displays.

I want to send a the GaBiPR.exe for collecting some data with Microsoft Outlook, but I can not send the GaBiPR.exe file?

Depending on the security settings, Outlook 2000/XP prevents sending and receiving files with a "potential security risk".

With default settings, Microsoft Outlook 2000/XP prevents sending the files:

ADE, ADP, BAS, BAT, CHM, CHM, CMD, COM, CPL, CRT, EXE, HLP, HTA, INF, INS, ISP, JS, JSE, LNK, MDB, MDE, MSC, MSI, MSP, MST, PCD, PIF, REG, SCR, SCT, SHS, URL, VB, VBE, VBS, WSC, WSF, WSH

Solution:

Change your security settings

Opening a write protected database:

If I want to activate a database and the following notification occurs "ATTENTION: The database is write protected. Wold you like to continue anyway?" you can not edit the database. The status of the database is read only.

Reason:

A write protected database can not be edited, you can read only.

Note: Copying a database from a CD-Rom to your harddisk, the database is generally write protected.

Solution:

Deactivate the write protection of the folder and all files contained in it.

Error code: ?Login failed: No Dongle found!? after activating a database.

Problem: GaBi does not detect the USB hardlock key. Within some computers (desktops as well as Laptops PC?s) the hardlock key is not detected by GaBi after the installation of the software. Activating a database GaBi returns the error message: ?Login failed: No Dongle found!?.

Solution:

  • Press Start => Settings=> Control Panel => Add/Remove Programs=> ?Hardlock Device Driver?
  • Then reinstall the driver from the file hldrv32.exe which is stored in your GaBi 4 installation folder. By double clicking the file hldrv32.exe the driver will be reinstalled.
  • If the installation was successful, there is a red light at the end of the dongle (the red light indicates a correct installation of the USB driver). If not, please repeat the procedure.

You can download updated drivers directly from: http://www.aladdin.com/support/default.asp?lid=Support&lpos=support_menu

Choose "Hardlock" if you are using a blue protection key or "HASP" => HASP HL => Endusers if you are using a green protection key.
