CML 1996

Description of the CML 1996 Method

Description

The CML 1996 is a impact assessment method collection, which restricts quantitative modeling to relatively early stages in the cause-effect chain to limit uncertainties and group LCI results in so-called midpoint categories, according to themes. These themes are common mechanisms (e.g. climate change) or commonly accepted groupings (e.g. ecotoxicity).

The data for the impact categories "CML 1996" are according to the information of the Institute of Environmental Sciences, Leiden University, The Netherlands, published in a handbook and based on various different authors. Furthermore a spreadsheet presents characterisation factors for the problem oriented approach. Scientific background and guidelines can be found in the literature.

PE INTERNATIONAL AG and LBP-GaBi cannot be held responsible for any of this information and data. For all relevant flows or sum factors, which could not be characterised by the above mentioned methods, corresponding factors were calculated by PE and LBP-GaBi.
